More and more consumers are watching videos online as they research their next purchase – whether it is buying a home or choosing a restaurant. This is especially true of local businesses that are being checked out by consumers using their mobile devices at or near their business locations.

Google calls this research time the Zero Moment of Truth and the conclusion is that businesses will need to implement some type of online video marketing strategy. But developing such a strategy can be daunting when faced with deciding on whether to DIY or hire a pro; whether to use a pro camera or your smart phone or how to promote the videos once the final edit is made.

A survey by a Boston-area videographer uncovered several challenges faced by businesses looking to videos to their marketing strategy:

  • 45 percent said editing video was their biggest challenge
  • 42 percent said it was impossible to find the time
  • 26 percent said they didn’t know what to say or do in a video
  • 19 percent said they didn’t know how to get the video onto the web
  • 15 percent said they were overwhelmed by the technology/equipment
  • 13 percent said they didn’t know how to get started

At Seven G Media, we make it our business to address your video marketing challenges.

Helping businesses sort through the hype and confusion of online videos is the goal our new free video marketing workshop series we have developed in conjunction with the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce.

The brown-bag workshops, held noon on the third Tuesday of each month, are designed to help professionals and small business owners understand how online video can improve the way they do business and how they can develop a relevant strategic plan to take advantage of the ever changing tools available.

Nathan Isaacs from Seven G Media will explain how digital storytelling with web videos can help businesses of all sizes better reach and build trust with new clients and customer referrals. Videos can be used to show off your expertise, like the above video we created for a successful Portland Realtor, or to demonstrate your product or tell us something about yourself.

Each month, Nathan will provide an overview of the video marketing process from start to finish; offer video topic ideas; discuss how to integrate web videos with other (online and print) marketing campaigns; provide takeaway tips; whether to DIY or hire a pro, and answer other questions.

Our next workshop is from 12-1 p.m. on July 16, 2013 at the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce’s Conference Room.

Space is limited. Registration is not required, but is recommended. Contact Nathan Isaacs to secure your spot.
