Frequently Asked Questions

How much does podcast editing cost?

You can expect to spend an average of $130 per episode for outsourced podcast editing services. You can spend more for show notes, optimize blog post, audiograms and more. This is for multitrack recorded episodes less than 45 minutes. Longer episodes, or episodes recorded on one track will cost more to be edited due to extra time required to edit.

How much would it cost to start a podcast?

The cost for starting or launching a podcast depends on a number of factors. There is the cost of the recording equipment, which can be a few dollars to several thousand dollars. There is the cost of hosting the podcasts. You need to include the cost of editing the podcasts, whether that is outsourced to me, or you do it in-house. There is also the cost of promoting the podcast episodes, which can include paid advertisements. It is recommended to start a B2B podcast with 4-5 episodes already recorded, which is factored into my podcast launch pricing.

Do I need to commit to a contract?

You don’t need a contract to obtain podcasting services with me. But if this is your first time working with me, I may require that you pay a deposit before any work is done. Many clients are a team within a B2B MarTech or SaaS company and are required to have some sort of vendor agreement with me to help with budget planning. Even in those contracts, I typically include a break-up clause for either party that requires only a 2-week written notice.

How long should your podcast be?

The correct length of your podcast should be what you need to get your point across, and what your audience will continue listening. This could an 15 minutes or it could be an hour. Based on a sample of 10 million episodes, the median podcast duration is 38 minutes and 42 seconds.

How long does it take to edit a podcast

The amount of time it takes to edit a podcast depends on a few factors: episode length, recording equipment, and recording environment. A 30-minute episode recorded in a quiet environment with decent equipment may only take an 45 minutes. That same conversation recorded in a noisy environment with mediocre equipment may take 2-3 hours.

Will my podcast sound like NPR?

Your podcast can sound like what you hear on NPR but it requires an investment in equipment, studio, and planning. You’ll also need to train your voice and word pronunciation just like an athlete practices over and over again in their sport. That said, with some coaching, a smaller investment in equipment, and some planning, and your podcasts will sound NPR-ish.
